Otter Lutra Lutra

Otters are semi-aquatic mamals and are related to otters and badgers. Otters have long slim bodies that help them swim faster in the water. They have short limbs and webbed paws. They have thick hair, made up of a soft layer of fur on the inside and a more hard layer of fur on the outside. They trap air in between the two layers of fur to keep them dry. Their diet is made up of mainly fish and birds but because of the cold rivers they swim in they have to eat a lot to keep warm. They can consume up to 25% of their body weight in one day.
